i went to my dr...he prescribed 20 mg of fluoxetine 1 per day...is this alot??

Hi wondering, 20mg is the normal recommended dose for depression. With fluoxetine, 20mg is the lowest dose you can get. Dont worry, this isn't a lot to be taking.

20mg is a standard dose of Prozac. It's not unusual for people to take up to 80mg for severe depression, so this is a relatively low dose.

I'm on 40mg, well I have been for about a month it still hasn't kicked in fully especially with the anxiety so would have no problems with my pdoc saying go up to 60mg. Unfortuently he wants to wait 10 to 12 weeks before changing anything.

10-12 weeks is necessary with Prozac because it has a very long half-life and an active metabolite, which takes a long time to build up to a steady blood level. But it is just as good as the others and can be very helpful.
