I am so mad!!!! Our company is losing our lease so the boss has been looking for new space. I overheard him negotiating for space in a big city that is a half an hour away. He hasn't said one word to anyone here about that. He is planning on getting himself a parking space and giving the rest of us bus passes. It will mean an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening of our lives and he doesn't think he needs to talk to us about that. I take night classes, how am I supposed to get to them on time?! He is a real piece of work! I once described working for this guy as working for Scrouge before the ghosts came to visit. He expects us to be there late if there is a deadline and obviously expects us ladies to be standing out on the streets of downtown after dark to catch a bus in order to make him millions!
Wet cats don't have anything on me right now!!! Sorry to be so pissy but I am so mad I don't know what to do. No, I won't say anything to him now but believe me, I want to!!!
The thing of it really is that the office is on the 41st floor. I have an issue with skyscrapers. I am afraid of heights but have never EVER let my fear stop me from doing anything. I am afraid of flying, I get on the plain. I am afraid of heights, I still go mountain climbing. I am afraide of open water, I still get on the ferry boat. I am really proud of that but it is something much different than having to do it every single day. 41 floors up in an elevator in a building that will move in strong wind and what about earthquakes?!
I just had a job review which was generally favorable. There were a few things that the boss asked me to work on but nothing unreasonable and nothing that I didn't agree with him about. He gave me a 3500/annual raise and signed me up for the 401K. I know that sounds great but this is a guy who thinks he can treat people any way that he wants to if he throws enough money at them. One of the things that he did say was that he wanted to know that I 100% work for him and don't spend time taking care of the employees. I'm the office manager for heaven's sake, taking care of what eveyone needs is my job. Anyway to me he was asking for complete loyalty. In order to get that kind of loyalty you have to give it and I know that there are times that he has lied to us and times when he is deceptive. That's not cool! He and his wife bought a hugely expensive house on an island near here. All the employees knew that they had bought it because we have an email pool instead of seperate addresses. His realtor slipped and sent an email to the office. No one said anything to him but then he started lying to us about the house telling us how his wife had owned it for years but they just never did anything with it. It was a really short step for all the employees to wonder what else he was lying to us about if he would lie about something like that. The guy is a technology dinosaur. We back everything up on 3.5 floppy discs and he absolutely won't listen to anyone about servers etc. We are in a high tech business where every client uses email and sends big files. Not us, we fax.
The bottom line is that it is his business and he doesn't need my permission to make decisions for his business but it isn't too much to ask to be treated with a little respect and informed about things that have a big impact on our lives.
Thanks for letting me vent, I am sure that my husband is tired of hearing it even though he would never say so.
Man, just when you get everything under control and you think it is safe to go back in the water......
