When I saw a councillor, the same thing happened with me. I'd been getting on really well with my psychiatrist, and really felt like we were getting somewhere, when she decided it was time I saw someone in my area, rather than having to travel 2 hours to see her. The councillor I saw was useless, had no clue what had been happening, even though my Psych had sent her a letter explaining everything when she sent my referal.
This councillor also tried to say everything wasdown to anxiety, and made me feel like I was faking everything.
I've started to get used to students personally, as I have them come bombard me, with every single appointment I make, no matter who it's with or what it's for. I guess everyone has to learn somewhere, and it's good for the students to see how a councillor actually talks and interacts with the patient.
It might be a it nerve racking having someone new in the room with you. I've learnt to just talk to the person I was going to see though, and just let the students dothere thing, and take there notes. Although, your councillor not saying there would be a student with them, was incredibly mean.
If they try to bring a student in in future, youcan refuse. They should understand that it's hard enough talking to one person, never mind 2.
Just saying everything is down to anxiety probably wasn't a wise move from your councillor. It does make you feel that you've spent all your time fighting a different battle to the one you were supposed to be fighting, and makes everything you've worked towards seem pointless.
Don't let the fact that the Councillor has suggested anxiety get youdown though. They will be on the same mission as you, just seeing things a different way if that makes sense.
I know I personally suffer anxiety and depression. The anxiety onlypops up though when something major is going to happen. The depression is there all of the time, and just makes me feel incredibly worthless and sad.
I hopethat my post will be of some use to you, and hope your feeling happier about things soon.
