antidepressant withdrawal?

Well, I'm officially an idiot. My doctor gave me 6 week's worth of Lexapro samples and I was supposed to make an appointment before I ran out to get a prescription if I was doing well on it.

Well, time just flew by and I didn't realize I was on my last pack until I took the last pill this morning. Whoops! I called the doctor's office and they said they'd call in the prescription today, which is great and all except... Well, my copay for it is $50 and I'm not going to have that until this weekend.

Normally, I wouldn't be too concerned but I'm going out of town for my new tattoo Thursday and Friday, and I really don't want to have weird side effects or a depressive episode or something while I'm there. What are the chances that I will be fine until then? Is there any way to even estimate that? Or should I suck it up and call the doctor and see if they'll give me a sample pack for this week?

 

Oops I have done that before and had to go a whole weekend ..it wasn't pretty.

I would call your doctor and explain to them,and see if you can get a sample pack...at least to last you until you can get your meds.

Well, I spoke with my doctor and she said I should be fine because it's a "long lasting" drug or something of that nature. So I decided to take the chance and go a few days without. I was indeed just fine, I think the excitement of the whole trip balanced things out maybe, but the stupid thing is, I called my pharmacy today and the medication only costs me $5!! For some reason the medco website told me $45, but the actual copay only ended up as $5 so I could've had it the whole time! Duh. Oh well, at least it all went okay :) And I've got an awesome new tattoo to make me happy (even though it hurts pretty bad at the moment!)

Well, that's who my pharmacy coverage is through so the prices are always accurate so I was really confused... But when I went to pick up the medication, I found out that Lexapro is no longer covered by my insurance so they replaced it with Citalopram, the generic of Celexa, which is why it was only $5. I'm nervous about taking it though because I notice now that they gave me 20mg and I was only on 10mg of Lexapro; though it may just be because Celexa needs a higher dose. I just hope the (lack of) side effects are the same.
