I wish I had the support of my friends. they all just sort of disappeared when things got sticky with me. I really feel like they have betrayed me in every way. Turned their backs on me. you are lucky to have had such good friends.

Gigi,
I was once that depressed, about 13 years ago when my ex-husband left me. I can remember the smallest task like washing my hair or taking a bath seemed like a major ordeal. I was in therapy on a regular basis, but still getting back into the real world was so hard. I had my daughters, but they were at the age that they had their own lives. I don't know what I would have done without my friends back then, and of course, God.
You are so lucky to have the support of your husband and your parents. Don't expect to feel back to normal over night. You didn't get this depressed over night. Meet with your doctor and see what he thinks you need to do. There is absolutely nothing wrong with going into in-patient treatment.
Back then, even though I was seeing my psychiatrist a couple times a week, I wasn't ready to face divorce court just yet and felt that I needed in-patient treatment and that I needed to get as far away from here as possible. By this time I had found out that my ex-husband had left me for someone else and I was just dying inside. I couldn't even concentrate, so with the help of friends, we found a hospital out in CA and a friend got me on a plane and I was on my way. Thank goodness the hospital sent someone to meet me at LAX because I was like a lost little girl carrying her teddy bear.
I was lucky enough to get the best therapist any one could hope for. Her name was Jeannie. As a matter of fact, I continued my therapy with Jeanne over the phone for several years until I no longer needed to do so any longer. After I stayed my 30 days, I still didn't want to come back home and face the music, so I rented a place in Laguna Beach and boy, did I run up those credit cards, just me and Teddy. I did that for 30 days and my friends were calling me and calling me wanting to know when I was coming home. Finally, my best friend flew out for a week and brought me back home and back to reality. Somebody had to do it. She had been to treatment for depression herself so she kind of knew what it was like.
Gigi, I don't think I would still be here had I not gone for the 30 days in-patient treatment for depression. It could be very healing for you as well. I certainly do not think you have anything to lose by trying it. If you need to email me, just click on my name.
Love and Prayers,
Carla
