Hello Sugar Ray, I think you should consult with your PCP or endo before going ahead with the procedure and ask those questions.  I would also suggest that you inform the eye doctor when you go in for an evaluation before agreeing to have the eyes done.  There might be some members here who've had that procedure but remember they can only offer their own experiences.  Each case may be different.  You need to seek professional medical advice.  And there's no need to include the website to the laser place that does that procedure.  :) 

 Just had to comment on this - I had radial keratotomy surgery on both eyes 23 yrs. ago, before I became diabetic.  This was the procedure that was done before "lasix" surgery was invented.  I had -5.5 to -6.0 vision at the time, and my vision was fully corrected.  However, I just (last month) had to have bilateral cataract surgery/lens implants which was very tricky due to the previous RK surgery.  I've done well in spite of being a diabetic for 8 years now.  My advice is: 1) Make SURE your diabetes is WELL controlled now before even considering surgery, 2) Make sure the doctor you select has an excellent reputation and is experienced in operating on diabetics - check out his credentials, and 3) If the first two are ok, then follow his directions to the letter - keep blood sugars well controlled, use the medications you are given for your eyes, make sure YOU are in the best physical shape possible before considering surgery.  Remember that in the future, you too may develop cataracts, diabetic macular degeneration, glaucoma, etc., all of which may necessitate further surgery as you get older - ask your doctor what effect the "lasix" surgery might have on future needs for surgery.  Good luck !
