Hi Jeannie
I consider it a gift from God, myself. My doctor suggested the change when open enrollment time came around. She noted that the co-pay for my Januvia was less through the new company, that they paid more for lab tests, that they paid her more routinely for her services, and that she had no problem prescribing strips to patients on this plan. There was no difference in the premiums, so we switched.
I had my doubts when I mailed them the prescriptions, but I actually got the metformin cheaper than Walmart (and it doesn't smell like dead fish either),the Januvia was less, and the strips were approved- that saves me over 100.00/month alone. I have to test a lot when I'm on the road, esp when I'm crossing time zones frequently, and eating in restaurants where even salads an have hidden carbs.
I called One Touch to see if they would send me a new battery- and they actually sent me a new Ultra Smart and when I mentioned how I loved the mini but couldn't use it as much as I would like because it didn't synch up to the computer- they sent me one of the new ones that does- no charge. They just love it when you tell them you use 5 of their strips a day-lol and it is totally cool to have your meter and your iPOD shuffle match-
