hi,

I've been trying to bury my head in the sand, but I can't deny it anymore.... my neuropathy is spreading and is much worse! I've been having "tingling" numbness in my hands for about a month or so, and I kept telling myself it's just from the exercise... but I looked it up online today, and it's pretty much textbook early stage of neuropathy. I can handle the pain in my feet pretty well, but this in my hands is SO annoying and I can never get it off my mind! It affects me when I'm on the computer (which I use for a living and love at home), washing dishes, even trying to fall asleep at night. From what I've read, this is only the beginning. I'm already doing all the article says.. exercise, diet, meds, but what do I have to look forward to???? and how soon will it get worse???? this came on so fast!

Contact your doctor right away! There are meds for this... and, it might not be neuropathy... could be something else. Let him get you an EMG set up and then you can make some solid decisions based on accurate results. Heck, you could just have carpel tunnel and be worrying over something small, right?
Hang in there, girlfriend, and call your doc.

in denial-the same thing is happening to me!! although i have no pain in my feet (which is where neuropathy starts) i have tingling, sleepy, achy hands most mornings and now throughout the day. i shouldn't even be typing!! the pain shoots up my arms and has become debilitating. i wear braces when i sleep which helps alot. it is carpal tunnel syndrome and i am only twenty four!! i have been a juvenile diabetic since i was four years old and i hate it and need to talk to someone about it. i have been recently having trouble and am very scared. have you read anythign on the link b/t carpal tunnel and diabetes? it is very strong. please reply

Hi Jeannie,

I called the doc for an appointment the same day I got your reply. I saw her yesterday... she thinks it's all about my blood sugar being so out of whack high lately and thinks it might get better if we can get the sugars under control. My blood pressure was normal, thankfully, but my sugar is still not great. Now we are trying Avandamet 2/500 in the am and plain metformin in the pm. We shall see.... (oh, she offered me meds to take at night for the tingling.. but I passed on it for now, I have so many meds already)

All this just started with me, but it's come on fast. Although I have some pain in my feet, and tingling once in a while, my hands and arms are feeling numb all day. I work on a computer and play on one at home way too much... I've started wearing gloves to bed some nights just to tolerate the discomfort. I saw my doc yesterday and she said it's beginning stages of neuropathy... I think it might be a bit of carpal tunnel also. It seems to have gotten worse since I've been exercising a lot more. Let us know how you're doing.
