Ezekiel Bread

Has anyone on the Forum heard of Food for Life Ezekiel Bread (live Food)?I was told I can't beat it for nutrition;it is made of Sprouted Grains;when a Grain is Sprouted the little Sprout has much more Nutrition than the Starchy Grain and the Gluten is used up in the Sprouting process..was also told is much much better for me..

I haven't had it but I've read it's nutritious.  They keep it in the refrigerated or freezer area for the "natural" food here.  I think it's expensive - which is also one of the reasons I don't buy it.

I only eat sprouted bread. I usually buy Trader Joe's because it has 4 net carbs and costs less than Ezekiel. Or I make my own.  It's very tasty- if you're used to white bread- you mayneed to adjust to the texture.

I've not had it either,but was told it's Nutritious.My local HFS sells it and it is kept in the Refrigerated section..not sure the price,but it's probably as expensive as the other Breads they carry which is over $4 for what looks like 1/2 loaf..if it weren't so danged expensive I'd love to try it!

I live in "Podunk" and don't have a Trader Joe's..where can I find a Low-Carb and Healthy Sprouted Bread that isn't expensive?

Sydnee, you could check all the labels on the whole grain/berry bread packages and choose the one lowest in carbs.  You could eat one slice instead of two.  The sprouted breads will always be more expensive than the bread on the shelf but honestly you have to make the decision "Is it worth it?"

Where can I buy whole Grain/Berry Bread?I'm not sure if my local HFS carries it.Right now I think it would be worth it coz I've cut so much out of my Diet!

You can find this in regular supermarkets.  The package will say 'whole grain' or 'whole berry'.  And read the nutrition panels on all the bread packages to see the ingredients.  Stay away from the ones with added sugar, honey and molasses and as always high fructose corn syrup!  If the carb content is really high, your blood sugar will be too.  Bread with a lot of fiber (like the whole berry/wheat, etc.) is better than the highly processed bread but you have to test your blood sugar to know how your own body metabolizes it.

My guess is that you can get sprouted bread delivered right to your door. I live out in the middle of  a cornfield myself- so I understand the podunk:-)  I drive into Columbus about once a month and stock up- the sprouted bread freezes really well.

My local superwalmart ( and only local grocery now that Kroger left) has 2 or 3 kinds of wheatberry bread- it's not sprouted though. It's not exactly cheap either.

good luck finding it. just google sprouted bread, purchase. I have to buy a lot of my stuff online or make the drive into civilization.

OMG That bread is wonderful!! It's well worth the price as long as YOU"RE the only one who eats it. I usually get it on the day old rack for � price but that's not too often. So I wait for a sale. And sometimes I even pay full price! (It's a treat.)

As toast with smart balance and sugar free preserves, it can't be beat! OMG You feel like you're eating REAL food!

Ezekiel bread seems to be working well for me-- doesn't spike my BG readings the way regular bread (white or otherwise) does. We also get it at TJ's. Can be gotten at Stop&Shop as well. Expensive?? somewhat--but I eat so little bread now, that $ has become a "nonissue". Besides, what's your health (life) worth anyway??
