I AM NEW AT THIS ONLINE THING...LOL I DO MYSPACE AND THATS IT BUT I JUST WANT SOMEONE TO TALK TO THAT KNOWS WHAT IT IS TO BE DIABETIC

Welcome to the Forum, Edias.  We have a few type 1 diabetics here (most are type 2) and I hope that you'll be able to meet them soon.  It would be helpful if you started up a "conversation" with some questions or comments about your diabetes experience.  How long have you been diabetic?  How has your control of your blood sugar been?    (Also, please don't use all capital letters because it means you're shouting. smilewinkgrin   Thanks.)

G'Day! I'm a Type 1 and regularly read this forum. Most posters here knows what it' like to be diabetic, we just have different experiences to share.

ok i will not use the caps lol...i am 19 soon to be 20 on 10/8 i was diagnosed two months and two days after my 15th birthday...i showed symptoms two years before that...i do not have medical insurance anymore so it is really hard to figure out the correct amounts of insulin to give myself and now i am using a new one so i am lost..i feel sick a lot like tired....headaches like im here but not really there...idk whats wrong i hate it

i was doing real bad for a long time and i know that my body sufffered... i have been trying real hard to get incomtrol..i lost 30pounds by eating better and excersize...but i dont check my blood sugar enough to really know whats going on...i am trying tho im still trying to accept this disease

Hi:) Good to meet you. Diabetes is an expensive disease to have with no insurance. Being type 1, you need to check your blood often. Can you go to Social Services and see if they can help you with insurance? Have you talked to your doctor to see if there are any programs that can help you? Getting your diabetes in control and keeping it there is so important and without medical help and blood testing very hard to do. Some drug companies give free meds if you can't afford them. You need to find a free clinic if you can. Keep trying until you find some help. Good luck.

No insurance? The first thing you do is look into any & all programs that might offer you assistance: your local diabetes clinic/hospital, your doctor(s), social programs, state/provincial programs, manufacturer programs or assistance, church groups, etc.

Diabetes is expensive and without financial assistance, it's hard to manage and/or manage with any control. What type(s) of insulin are you on? How often or when do you you test?

Start keeping a log of your BG readings, injections, food, and the times for each. You'll need data to start with if you want to start figuring out an appropriate insulin regimen.

Check out the "Travelling Overseas with Type 1 Diabetes" thread (just a few days ago)... I mention some links and information you may find helpful in getting your insulin routine in order.

hi, i'm new on this also. i've been a typa1 diabetec for over 38 years..i got it one week after my 10th birthday..i've been throught alot but keep ticking. i'll let yo answer questions first,until i know where your at both medically and emotionly(mind wise) but having it so long i've been through a lot..but you will make it!!! write me back and i'll help as much as i can!! i do some counsling and will explain more later but it is G-d based..i've done a few seminars also about diabetes.. look forward to hearing from you
