Its been 3 months since I was diagnosed with type 2. Although the weight loss has plateaued for the moment, I am down 22 pounds. I test 6 times a day (before/after eating) and the results have been consistent -- 4.5 to 6 (81-108) first thing in the morning, 6 to 8 (108 - 144) after breakfast & lunch. Before /after supper is always low (4.5 to 5.5) and it seems like I can eat anything I want around this time of the day (I stick to the low carbs though).
While I realise that the 8 and occasional 9 numbers are not good, I also know why they occur. I still like my half bowl of Cheerios in the morning and a ham or cheese sandwich for lunch. When I replace the cereal and bread, the numbers drop.
I had a fasting blood test last week and did a couple of tests of my own before the lab poked me. I figure the lab test will show me at around 6 (a little higher than usual for me that day ... not sure why). This is where I was last time I saw my doctor. I see my doctor again on Monday -- do you think the consistency will impress him?
After reading through the CDA's recently released guidelines (I posted the link in a previous message), I am not considered diabetic, although I am if I eat normal foods.
.
Due to the low carb diet, my digestion has never been better & I'd like to keep it that way. I am hoping that he (doc) will let me keep my diet control plan going and delay the meds approach.
What are my chances that he'll agree?
