So yesterday I spent a good part of the day getting my regular Remicade infusion for my UC. My diet was a complete disaster. I had a a glazed donut, pizza, it was just sort of a "the heck with it, I've got a needle in my arm" day. Most days, I'm really careful and compliant with my diet. Plus, the Remi is mixed in a glucose solution because saline will lyse it.


So this morning my BGL, which averages 126, was 118.



I'm sorry, but I have to laugh about it. I will figure this out some day!

shocked   I think it's hard to know just what your blood sugar will do when you smack your body with so many variables, like other medicine, "procedures", stress.

Thanks, Lanie, I think you may be right. My body gets smacked with so much every day, I may never figure it out. But I'll never stop trying. Maybe if nothing else, it will stave off senility.

Judy, the best and only thing you can do is do the right thing for yourself.  You take care of every thing as best you know how and you can rest easily that you've done it right.  Then, when there's another step to take, you take it.  No, we can't stop trying to figure it out though.  (And that does give the brain a workout, doesn't it?)  As I tell my kids, I may be 99 on life support but I'll still be doing crossword puzzles in pen.

Lanie, I'm worse. I do those pesky logic puzzles.

I've told my family if I'm 99 I'd better not be on life support, or I'll haunt them when they finally release me!

Lol.  When my husband announced during a discussion about 'things' with family and friends that he didn't want to ever be on life support, I told him not to worry there'll be plenty of people trying to pull the plug.

Hi Judy and Laurie,

I have an Advanced Directive that speaks for me when I am unconscious. It is a goot idea to have one. That way your wishes are carried out and not someone else's.

You're right, confirmation. My medical power of attorney, general power of attorney and advance directives are all in place.
