So I was searching around for a new meter and supplies because times are tough

This is what I found tell me what you all think

It sounds like a lot of extra things you wouldn't necessarily need and it's a lot of money for all of it plus the re-order cost.  You can get a much better priced meter with no bells and whistles (since you want to keep the cost down) at Walmart.  Their brand ReliOn was rated pretty accurate.  Gayle, do you have a vested interest in the sale of the items you mentioned?

no vested interest just asking for an opinion on if I should buy or not buy I pretty much a new diabetic three years in and only ever have had one meter

Wal mart's relion would be the least expensive way to go. Meters run about $10 and I think the test strips run around $25 or so per 100.

I am pretty sure you can get a free meter on a few sites - google free meter .... of course, it would only come with a starter bit of strips, but you could get a prescription to reorder them, no?

The free meters always have the most expensive test strips, in my experience. Price out the replacement test strips before you choose a new meter. That's where the companies make their money.

Gayle, what meds are you on?  I'm also wondering about what you're eating.  It seems like it's overloaded in carbs, which is what keeps the blood sugar high.
