I am not on meds but consider myself a candidate for pre-diabetes. I have to carefully monitor my diet to keep my fasting blood sugar levels from rising. I noticed that since taking Gymnema sylvestre my fasting levels dropped from 100-115 to 88-94.
I know Gymnema sylvestre works for lowering blood sugar in type 2 diabetes. Some of the research indicates that it repairs and helps promote growth of pancreatic beta cells so it may be helpful for type 1 diabetes also. All I know is that my fasting blood sugar levels are lower.

I've read about
this online but I haven't seen any studies. I'm glad you found something that works. I also hope you have informed your doctor that you are taking this and that you have lab tests to ensure there's no harmful effects on the organs. That's something I would worry about
for myself. How are your lab tests?

I have been getting blood work every 2-3 months for 5 years. Except during last year's UC flare my labs are better than normal.

Nat, this can be bought in any store that sells vitamin supplements and herbal products, like GNC, or you can find it online, too. If you are taking meds for diabetes, you should discuss taking this with your doctor.

I am not diabetic (yet) so I don't take meds or test my glucose level during the day. I am worried about
being or becoming prediabetic so I test my fasting level every morning. If you decide to take Gymnema Sylvestre please be aware that your normal requirements for conventional meds may drop.
You can buy it at any health food store or Whole Foods. My goal is to continue with diet, exercise, and perhaps some herbs and green drinks so hopefully I never cross the line into diabetes.

I just read about
this and started researching it. Then goggled it here and glad to see others have tried it (this is not the only post) Sounds better than chromium.
"helps promote growth of pancreatic beta cells" - I like that part too.
And its cheap.
My diets pretty good already so this is a no brainer to help keep me lower than 100.
