Hi. I'm a 27 year old male, 210 pounds, 6 feet tall, and no family history of diabetes. I just recently had my A1C come back as 5.8, which kind of shocked me. I bought a meter and began testing my blood sugar. My fasting blood sugar after 2 weeks of checking ranges from 75-94. I also have tested my 1hr and 2hr postprandial blood sugar levels on multiple occasions. I tried having a very high carb meal ( just for testing purposes) . I had a bagel, 2 big
cookies, and 2 glasses of orange juice. Prior to taking a bite of any of them, my BS was 85. An hour after consuming all that, my BS was 126. Two hours later it was 102, and 2 1/2 hours later it was 86 again. To my understanding and the countless hours I've researched this in the past few weeks, this seems normal, even optimal in some cases.
I'm pretty scared and don't know what's going on. I have been extremely stressed and went through a situation for all of February where I was extremely nervous/stressed about
an unrelated situation, that I lost 9 pounds from a loss of appetite during that stressful time. Can this stress during February have been enough to elevate my BS's enough to give me a 5.8? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
