How many of the members of this forum are Type 1? I was just wondering, since the moajrity of the topics in the forum seem to focus on Type 2

My son is Type 1 he's 2.5 yr old was dx at 18 months.

Hi - first time using the healingwell. I am wondering if any one has used Diabeticine - I have just recieved info about it and wanting to get some info from any one using it.

My son (he is four and a half) is taking Diabeticine and the blood sugar is now closer to normal values. Too early to tell more.

My son is 5 diagnosed at 4. Do you mind if I ask you some simple Q. like how has it effected the insulin doses...I am in Australia finding it hard to find any one that has heard of Diabeticine and to answer my questions...

We've started not long ago and haven't lowered the insulin dose yet, however I'm grateful to see more stability in the glucose levels. If you have more specific questions you can email me directly at [email protected] .

My daughter was diagnosed type 1 last year at 6½.

Hi everyone,

My first post on this board. :-)

I'm type 1 since November the 17th 1979 (no, I do not throw myself a "diagnose-party" on that day!). 29 years old now. Only serious complication so far is retinopathy (and that's well over enough!).

Last blood tests: Fasting glicose=65mg/dl (normal: 70-105), A1c=9.1% eyes , other than that, perfect! :-)

Let's give a special welcome to Rachel and Aimee, both newly diagnosed 14 yr old type 1's.  Rachel lives in Kansas and Amiee lives in the UK at boarding school. 

We are pleased to have both of you in our forum. I'm sure you will find many friends here as time goes on. Don't hesitate to post here whenever you feel like it!

Hi, My daughter was diagnosed as type 1 at the end of January 2005. We were able to keep her insulin level at a minimum until recently. She was increased today to 16 units of Lantus, 8 in the am and 8 in the pm. She also has to do corrective doses and insulin to carb ratios which vary.

I purchased Diabeticine on line yesterday and should receive it soon (around 2-5 days). Megan's blood sugars are extremely high recently (over 500) at times. I have emailed her doctor over a week ago concerning the use of Diabeticine and received no reply. However, when I emailed her today regarding her high levels, she was prompt to give me the needed increase doses.

I will keep you all informed on how Megan does on the Diabeticine.

Hi. I was diagnosed Type 1 at age 18. 22 years ago now and treatment and understanding have improved enormously in that time. Blood glucose testing still feels like a novelty compared to urinalysis in the old days, believe me!

A1c 4.3 and no complications at all, so I must be doing something right.

What sorts of insulins and dosages are you guys taking?

I ordered the Diabeticine a few days ago and received it yesterday. My daughter is 12 yrs. old and can not swallow the pills. I am guessing your son can't either given his young age.
What do you use to mix the powder from the capsules? Megan started with plain water but the mix didn't disolve enough so we switched to applesauce. She has been on it for two days now.
