I'd really like to know what your doctor thinks about
this! I had problems with the sciatic nerve about
a year ago and I had pains from the butt down a leg. Sitting on some chairs aggravated it. It seemed to last for months. I was prescribed a muscle relaxant because my doctor felt some muscles were squeezing the nerve. I started doing a range of stretches I'd found online specifically for sciatic nerve pain, too.
In my case, what helped me besides the stretching was using a stability ball. I lay across it and stayed there for a few minutes. I think one of the websites said this was to help stretch the spine and if the sciatic nerve was being squeezed by disks, then this would help.
