Hi Yejide,
My name is Allison Rose and I have been Diabetic for 16 years
like you I am in my thirties and have 2 children also. when I was first
diagnosed I was around 220 and was a junk food junkie I was told
that if I didnt lose the weight I would have to be put on insulin. Well
needless to say 2years later I was put on 4 shots a day. I did eventually lose the weight but it was not by dieting, the disease had
taken over and I became very sick and lost about 80 pounds, I looked
good but felt horrible. After about 6 different doctors I now am on 5 shots a day and have gained back about 35 pounds from the insulin
which I would love to lose the right way! please find you a good dietician and try to take control of this disease I know it is sooo hard
there are still days were I feel horrible and cant get my blood sugars
to come down and I try to eat as healthy as I can!!!!!!! We have to
hang in there together not only for us but for our kids as well. I have
been in the hospital twice from this disease once for my kidneys
shutting down and the look on my kids faces when they didnt think their
mommy was coming home was the wake up call I needed,
Please dont let youre kids experience this! Every day is a struggle for
a diabetic because we have to eat to live but we just have to make
the right choices, I test about 7 times a day and log every result
the good readings and the really bad ones to and I bring it to
my doctor so he can adjust my insulin I also have learned to write
down EVERYTHING I put in my mouth. I hope this helps and remember
you have to put yourself first to be healthy so youre there for youre
kids!
Allison Rose
