I just got a continuous glucose monitor in December, and had my first dr appt with it was in January. After that doctor appt I saw a charge for $92 for "continuous glucose monitor phys interp.", So I found out the doctor charges to interpret those results which they did not tell me about before. I have had an insulin pump for many years and have never had an upcharge for those results. I was thinking about changing doctors, but I called where my father goes and they charge a $93 charge as well. Has anyone ever experienced this?, and know how I can avoid this charge? I don't think it's right I am trying to better myself and get my numbers more under control, and I feel like they are exploiting that and charging me more just because they can. My idea is to one try to dispute that charge because I did not sign off on that or was not told about this charge. Then the next time I go in make a 2 week log of my numbers and they can go off that and my A1C. Not even let them look at the monitor. Do you think that will work, just thinking out loud here. Just wondering if anyone else has had troubles with this.
Thanks,
Kayla

That's the thing I'm upset about I downloaded and printed out my own results and brought them in. They usually download my pump (if they can) sometimes their download equipment doesn't work. I am not sure if they have a way to download the Dexcom I have, but I brought by own results in I guess they can still charge me for looking at those papers though?? Thanks for replying.

I think you should speak to your insurance company. That is ridiculous to charge like that just to interpret the results. I'm sorry you have to deal with that. Are you type 1?

I know what it's like dealing with insurance companies! Sorry about that. Nowadays you can do a lot of business online, on their website, so you might try that first. Good luck.
