Hi Betsy and welcome. Your A1c is an average of 117 blood sugar and is not bad. I do not know about
the fasting insulin result that you mention. I have never had that measured as far as I know. Here is a link to a site that explains the fasting insulin results:

Have you been diagnosed as diabetic or pre-diabetic? Many times there are family trends that should be a concern: a family member who has diabetes and being overweight are two. Others are fasting blood sugar being over 100 - although a non-diabetic's fasting blood sugar would always be in the 80's.
The only test which will tell you whether or not you have diabetes or are a high risk is the GTT (Glucose Tolerance Test). Unfortunately diabetes creeps up and may cause health problems before we catch it. It affects the heart, kidneys, eyes and circulation among others. If you have any family members like parents, grandparents or siblings who have diabetes, you need to be aware that this may be a family trait.
