Hi Julia,
I was diagnosed at the age of 22 with diabetes. The year was 2002 and things were great. Then one night while out ot eat with family...... I began drinking lemonade excessively. On the way home my stomach was killing me, the pain was so great that I thought I may have to go to the hospital.... Luckily I didnt- maybe I should have- who knows. BUt anyways back to the thrilling story.... I was on the way home and luckily we all rode together in the same vehicle. I crawled in the back and went to sleep. When I awoke I was feeling better. (This is fun telling my life story.)
So about a week later I started feeling terrible, no energy, pale, losing weight... It sucked! Water Bill went up bc I was flushing the toilet so often. hmmm... It probably did go up. hmm.. Anyways, went to the doctor and sure enough 480 blood sugar reading.... That cant be good.. :) My quack doctor disnt know to much about diabetes and what to do, so he sent me to a specialist. He got my numbers down well, all on oral meds...
Now the key to this story is NEVER FOOL yourself. See after a few visits to the specialist and great H1C numbers... I thought I had it kicked... Wrong answer. :) So now I am taking insulin shots. Booo! :)
What was your question again bc I think I jumped off the subject matter. :)
Anyways the key is, diabetes wont stop you, IF YOU ARE smart about it. Do what you are supposed to do. Eat small portions, stay positive, and exercise.
Type 2 since who knows when but diagnosed 2002. 135lbs 5'8"
