Hi,
I've recently been reading up on DAFNE (Dose Adjustment For Normal Eating) and was wondering if anyone has any experience of this they'd like to share? From what I can gather it is used as the basis to treat t1s in Germany and is slowly filtering through to the UK and maybe Australia. I'd just like to know what those 'DAFNE Graduates' really think of it. (Here in the UK the NHS runs free courses but you have to be lucky enough to be at a hospital that runs this course, and there aren't many around!! Also, each course is for 6-8 people so it's not a huge turn around, plus I've also heard there's a 2 year waiting list!)
If anyone is interested in trying to find out more you can easily find info on the net. As the title suggests it's aim is for us t1s to adjust insulin ourselves to whatever we eat - it then means that we can eat when we want, and what we want (with the exception of sugary drinks) and also results in much better control of numbers. It seems to only be suitable for adults right now, but it looks as though it's being looked into for children too.
So, if you have first hand experience please share your views!!
