All good tips. Thanks, everybody! It helps to know I'm not the only one struggling with this night time hunger.
Peanuts are a staple around here; always have been. I prefer them raw... almost always available in the baking aisle of the grocery store with other nuts, pecans, walnuts, almonds, etc. Best ones (fresher) come from local co-ops - but maybe this is just in the south where they are grown.
Hadn't thought about cheese cubes, jeannie, but will put that on my list. I make my own pim-cheese with sharp chedder and Hellman's Lite. One of my "chocolate fixes' is Hood's milk with Nestle's Nesquik no sugar added chocolate milk mix... need to try judy's idea re Hood's chocolate milk.
Re apples: how much nutrition do I loose by peeling mine? Have found the peels don't digest well with my colostomy. Fruit yesterday was canned no sugar added peach slices with cottage cheese ... Very satisfying!
Bs was 112 this am ... oh well, new day, will try to do better today! Cooler here this morning so am looking forward to a soup/stew/chili. Really do like to have food available that doesn't requie portion control.
Tomorrow is the local "diabetic walk" fund raiser ... guess what they'll have at the food booth? Hot dogs, chips, soda ... Tell me that makes sense?!
