Hi A.F and Ruth...... You should be a happy camper! A 6.2 is a very good A1C. I'd be more content if I could get mine below 8% after 2 years but, I'm just happy knowing I'm doing the best I can. Hey, coming from a 14% and hovering around 10% for about
a year, I'd say I'm doing MUCH better
I can appreciate how easy it is to get caught up in the numbers game when you're trying so hard to do all possible to maintain good blood sugars. You want to see the results of all your efforts justified in that glucose reading. For some that justification is their sole motivation and, dare I say, I don't think it should be. I believe that focusing on making good diet and exercise choices throughout the day (and knowing the reprecussions of the bad ones), goes a lot further than focusing on a number. Yes, the A1C is a good indicator of where levels have been averaging over the past 2.5-3 months, but they are just that, averages. Throw in an illness, infection, prolonged stress, etc. and you're sure to see it reflected in the A1C, especially if it happens in the month previous to the blood draw.
Cheers,
Kris
