Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone was taking the new drug Janumet the Januvia/metformin combined, I am on Januvia and 2000 metformin and would like to know about results from someone on it, if it does as good a job. The co-pay saving would be a nice plus. Thanks.   Mark

I take them separately as Januvia ( 100mg/1xday) and metformin ( 500 mg 4x/day). My doctor was okay with prescribing Janumet ( 500mg Januvia+ 500 mg metformin) 2x/day - but I'd still need 2 additional metformins and the Janumet cost more in the end.

If you take your Januvia with your metformin now- there should be no problem with it- i less pill to swallow:-) sandy

My doctor switched me from Gucophage (metformin) to Janumet because of side effects. Result: worse side effects no real improvement. Headaches, dizziness, disorientation, general feeling of being sick!

How long did you use the Janumet? The side effects that you experienced are not typical of either medication. In fact, it's more like what I experienced on glipizide. I attend a support group where 10 of us are using Januvia now, and none of us has had any problems with it. It took some time for me to see the best results from it, but I did see stabilizing blood sugars almost immediately.
