I just completed the 5mcq Byetta pen and have recently advanced to the 10 mcg Byetta pen. Prior to the introduction of Byetta, my primary care MD had me on Actos and Lantus. After being on Actos for one month, I had rapidly gained 6 pounds and decided it was time to see an endocrinologist. She (the endocrinologist) discontinued the Actos and started me on Byetta and Glumetza. Fortunately, soon after I had begun the Byetta, I immediatly lost 5 of the 6 pounds I had put on from the Actos. However, despite biking 21 miles per week, I have not seen any other weight loss. This is to my dismay. As I had mentioned, the endo had also started me on Glumetza with the Byetta, but the Glumetza/Metformin made me violently ill. Thus, I had to stop the Glumetza. Is any one using any other type of oral diabetic medication with the Byetta that has helped to get you off of the insulin? I also continue to take 35 units of Lantus every night. My blood sugars are run anywhere from 90 to 130 at different times of the day.
Thank you in advanced for your reply.
