I had my annual physical today with all the blood work and I'm eager to see how the lab tests come back. My last A1c was 5.6 last November with great improvement in the cholesterol, too. Since losing the weight and upping the cardio, I've cut out one of the two BP pills I've been on for years. My BP has come down generally (except in her office) and my resting heart rate is in the low 60's, much lower than years ago. The only glitch is hitting this plateau and have actually gained about
5lbs since the spring.
Various explanations are: not enough food and the body thinks it's starving, or not enough protein, or too much protein, or more muscle. More muscle is possible or probable but it's not like the clothes are falling off me. I haven't figured how many calories I eat but the doctor figures it's around 1200/day, so she's sending me back to the nutritionist at the diabetes center. This is awful because I just know we're going to butt heads about
carbs
again!
I've been controlling the blood sugar so well and I'm not (hear me?)
not going to raise the blood sugar to follow their stupid diet.
And tomorrow we're leaving for NYC on a mini-vacation, so I won't find out about
the lab results for about
a week. And, yes, I
will eat a really nice dessert at least once (maybe twice) but will generally stay focused on this way of eating because honestly I feel healthy. If any of you have any ideas about
jump-starting the weight loss again, please give some pointers, ok? I'll be gone for about
a week enjoying the Big Apple.
