Linwood,
Some of the meters that check on your arm give lower readings, too. If you are looking for tight control you may want to test on your fingers even though you can do arm readings. Tight control is something to aim for if you find that your medication dosages have increased, your readings are rising or you starting a new exercise program. If you have insurance paying for your meter and strips, the one you have is one of the more expensive ones, but with the insurance payment it's doesn't bother your budget. I have to pay for my meter and strips out of pocket so I use a big clunky inexpensive meter that uses cheap strips. It's been very accurate, even though it wasn't costly.
I also believe that some of the meters are getting more accurate as they fine tune the electronics in them. Just my 2ยข.
