 Hi all,I am amember of prostate cancer forum.Thanks God I have been cancer free

for six years and I love to help every one on our prostate cancer site.

I am hear looking for your help,last month my doctor did a complet blood work,and

the A1C is 5.7 he told me I need to be carefull with my shugar intake.

most of the time when I take the blood test in the morning is always 80 to 90.

this mornig is was 104.Yesterday I ate more sweet stuff than usual.

I need some advise of what I need to do in other to stay at this level and not to progress to diavetis.thanks your next door brother. confused

Hello Gold Horse, welcome to our next door forum!  I'm glad you're doing well over there!  Your blood sugar readings appear to be fine and with an A1c of 5.7, I'm puzzled as to why your doctor is telling you to be careful.  Except for the 104 (which is only a little elevated), it seems to me that you're very well controlled.  Does diabetes run in your family?  Anyway, basically if you eat a lot of food with carbohydrates, your blood sugar will rise and if you're leaning toward diabetes, the blood sugar will have a hard time getting back to 'normal'.  So, the best advice is:  stay away from potatoes and food made with flour and sugar.

Hi Lanie G, no diavetis does not run in my family.I tested my blood one hower

after I posyed and it is 90mg,I am just concer about the a1c of 7.5.thank you.

Wait a minute!?  Your first post said the A1c was 5.7 and now you wrote 7.5.  If it's 7.5, then that's too high.  However, 5.7 is great, so which one did you mean to write?

5.7 is a fine A1c.  I wonder why your doctor is concerned about your blood sugar.  If diabetes doesn't run in your family and your blood sugar readings are in the range you're posting here, then why did the doctor tell you to be careful of your sugar intake?  I suppose that he just wants to be sure that you stay 'normal'?    Maybe he wants you to avoid future problems?  Are you overweight?

I think he just want me to stay at 5.7 or below.
I am 5.7 and 145 lbs.

Well, just keep eating what you've been eating before.  Although from what you've written, diabetes doesn't seem to be a problem, you're smart to watch out for your health.  Best of luck!
