Lanie and Judy, my blood sugar is all over the place. Like the person in the link, Lanie, I've tried practically eliminating carbs. That isn't good for me. I get very weak and lethargic. So I do limit them. Breakfast and lunch are around 25 carbs each. Dinner is usually around 45 carbs. I take glyburide and also short-acting insulin at dinner to help. Two hours after dinner, I'm in the good range and then it pops up again before bedtime.
Several times I've headed to bed (with no snack after dinner) and it has been in the 215 range! I'll wake up four hours later and it's 60. I'm usually shaking right about then. It's not fun sitting in the kitchen eating a little something at 2 AM. I'll get up the next morning and if I don't check it right away, I'm in the 150 range....just like I told you in the first post. I'll take a one mile walk first thing in the morning and that adds an additional 60 points! So, when I start breakfast I'm over 200 points and haven't had a bite to eat. That makes my blood sugar still high two hours after eating!
My doctor says that it takes time to get blood sugar back under control. The only problem with that answer is I've kept my blood sugar totally under control for 19 1/2 years! All of a sudden it's doing this. Plus I ate a little more carbs then than what I'm eating now!
I also am tired, rubbery arms and legs, and sometimes short of breath...no matter whether or not my BS is high or low. I had him check my thyroid and my iron levels with the blood work taken yesterday. That's when I decided to ask you folks to see if anyone else has had a problem like this.
I just think there is some underlying thing going on in my body that is causing the BS to react this way. How do you get the docs to listen? It sure is irritating. I have a wonderful doctor, board certified and a diplomate, and he is affiliated with the medical school in my area. He doesn't seem the least bit worried and this is driving me crazy! Not helping the BS either.
