Hello,

Im new to this forum and I have been Diabetic for about 22 years. I have a daughter which is 11 and she is, THANK GOD, Diabetes FREE! I have had a major problem with my menstrual cycle since May 94. I had never had anything like this happen, my period just disappered. It stayed away for 6 months and then showed up for 1 month. Since then, I have not seen it again, it will be 5 months now without a period. I have visited my Endo (real bad dr!) and my Gyno. They find nothing wrong with me. My hormones are fine, My endo finds nothing wrong either. Has anyone had this problem?

My Gyno offered me Birth control, but I have a real bad reaction to it and my Blood sugar rise a lot. I have not been sexually active in a REAL long time, so being pregnant is not the case. Advise?

hi Tiramisu, I've been type 1 diabetic just about 24 years, since i was one. My periods are very irregular too and always have been. They didn't start until I was 14 and they never come in 28 days, usually more like 50 to 70 days. Most people think i'm lucky! lol. I was told that they would become more regular after having kids, but it hasn't made any difference. I can usually tell though when it is coming because my sugars go up around a week before i start. I also had a problem with birth control. My doctor's all said i'm fine too, so if your docs think it's okay, then i'm sure there is nothing to worry about.

Thanks for your response, I have never missed a period except for my pregnancy. But this time it really went off... Its just frustrating and worrisome, you can get Osteoporosis.

You don't state your age but you may be experiencing perimenopause. Just my two cents.
