Hi Anxious Lion, do you have a blood sugar meter? The reason I'm asking is that there's no way to know how your food affects your blood sugar unless you can test it. Anyway, for trying to lower your FBS as well as the blood sugar in general, staying away from softdrinks,
cookies and candies is helpful, so you're doing well with that choice. However, if you're eating a cup of rice with every meal, then maybe that's why your blood sugar was high for the fasting. Even if you don't have diabetes in your family, sometimes age and weight can make you "prediabetic". Daily exercise helps control blood sugar, too. I don't know why you're thirsty but it might be normal thirst in any case. Sometimes using a lot of salt makes us thirsty. And maybe the exercise is making you thirsty, too. I didn't know the name "ampalaya" but I see that it's also called bitter melon in English. I've read that some people use this to help with diabetes control. I also believe anxiety can have different effects on the body.
Some people whom the doctor calls "prediabetic" can control their blood sugar within normal limits with a very low carbohydrate diet and regular exercise. Maybe you should ask your doctor the next time you see him if you should get a meter.
