I know a lot of diabetics get periferal neurapathy and thus have burning foot pain and are usually taking something for the pain. I had periferal neurapathy that wasn't caused by diabetes. One dr put me on lyrica for the nerve pain. It raised my bl sugar to the point where I was considered diabetic. I was put on a diabetes drug. But we also stopped the lyrica. Since off lyrica my blood sugars have been good. Sometimes too low. I am wondering now if it wasn't lyrica induced diabetes and I could get by with less metformin or none at all. This lyrica thing is interesting.The literature on lyrica does list elevates bl sugar as a side effect. so beware if you are diabetic and taking lyrica. Your elevated sugars could be because of the lyrica. ...Isn't life the pits?

Wow, there may be lots of diabetics on Lyrica.  I hadn't read that it could raise blood sugar.  In fact, some sites said it could actually lower it.  It's hard to know how a body will react though.  I think when starting any new medication diabetics need to be sure they test more often to see if it affects the blood sugar.

I posted this a week ago about Neurontin/Gabapentin. The doc put me on 600mg 3x/day and my fasting blood sugar shot up to 215. It just got ignored so I took down the post.
