I am interested in gut bacteria because they seem to be involved in my ulcerative colitis. Many people first get symptoms after taking antibiotics that kill good and bad bacteria, then find that the bad bacteria grow back faster to overwhelm the gut causing problems.
Probiotics, yogurt, and kefir help replenish good bacteria and relieve symptoms but they do not permanently colonize in the intestines. So they must be eaten every day. Now they are finding that the bad bacteria can also cause diabetes.
