Is there any oral meds for type 1? Or is the treatment insulin injections only?
I think there is reasearch being done on a type 1 oral med but its not there yet?
Thanks,
Carrie

Type 1s must have insulin and I don't know if oral insulin is available yet, but I've read that the industry is working on it. Some type 1s might also have to have oral drugs that aid the injected insulin, however.

My doctor tells me that insulin is the only treatment available for my type 1. He allowed me to try an oral medication for a while, but my diabetes did not respond to it. It would be wonderful if oral insulin was available. I know the injections get old, but we have to hang in there and take care of ourselves!

There is also the pump which is easier than injections, also here in Canada I think we will probably see an artificial pancreas to come before oral meds, also there was something that just came out in Edmonton to do with Islet transplant
