Meters: Very different readings

I have been using a TrueResult meter, and tested it for comparison at the lab last time I was there. It came in very close to the lab test results. There have been some sales and freebies with companies pushing their meters and products so I decided to try some out. WOW! The readings vary wildly among them. For example, recently I lined up my meters for a test fest and got this: 92 on TrueResult, 115 on Bayer Contour Next and 129 on Accu-Chek Nano. TrueResult is always the lowest among them, and Nano is always the highest. I really like the lower numbers I've been getting with the True meter, but now I'm concerned that maybe I'm not doing as well as I thought at keeping my numbers down. Why the wide variance with these meters?

Hi and welcome to the Forum. The industry that regulates these medical devices allows the manufacturers to have a plus or minus accuracy of 20%. The best thing for you to do is to take your meter with you the next time you have lab work done and test yourself when the lab tests you and then compare the results when you get them. I know it's frustrating!
