This is my first post in the diabetes side....and felt maybe I should.... my family has a long line of people with type 2 ,crohns and stomach issues.
two very good links to read
http://phenomena.nationalgeographic.com/2013/05/13/the-mucus-lover-that-stops-mice-from-getting-fat/
http://www.thesleuthjournal.com/wheat-may-promote-diabetes-disturbing-gut-flora/
For me I tracked back candida yeast as my cause.... of my crohns , when I lowered it , and then raised my Akkermansia bacteria I am 13 percent now my disease went away.. to me these diseases are linked -- as many who reduce sugar with crohns feel better.... as well my personal experience with family history
Doctors do not treat for yeast...... many with auto immune dieases have high ASCA= bakers brewers yeast or AMCA =candida yeast..
yet no one treats for this.. if you also have stomach IBS .... this is a great test for you
Labcorps IBD EXPANDED PANEL -- tests 5 anitbotdies , one is AMCA candida and one isASCA= Bakers brewers yeast. If you do this and are reactive to one of these two I talk about
it would be interesting.
Many do not realize as well the protein in gluten looks like the protein in candida.
For me -- I found to cure my crohns I had to remove sugar -- and switch to a paleo diet./ low carb but at the same time I used meds and natural supplements to kill fungus/yeast
Sugar digests as - milk grains starches- corn rice potato and fruits. For me I found it odd that GLUTEN free people change there diet away from GLUTEN-- but then eat more rice, potato and corn products...
which are sugar.. they never heal but feel better not eating gluten ( and for me I found the gluten protein looks like the candida protein)
Not the same disease but I found it interesting .....
2 years ago .... I got crohns-- and became gluten intolerant. today I can eat gluten . But now my YEAST is LOW ---results from many advanced tests and my Akkermansia bacteria is high..
I did the american gut project test--- anyone interested in what in there gut also look here. http://americangut.org/ its 99.00 to due the study
for your yeast levels... look at the greatplans lab they look at your good bacteria and yeast - not like the hospital or local labs. there OAT test and COMP stool
http://www.greatplainslaboratory.com/home/eng/full_oat.asp
http://www.greatplainslaboratory.com/home/eng/stool.asp
another great place for into is doug kauffmann he points to yeast as well yeast/fungus for diabetes.. www.knowthecause.com

I left out.... that eating lots of leeks, fried onions, garlic and asparagus feed the bacteria above from the study...
today my level is 13 % the avg person has 3 to 5 percent...

I'm glad you're feeling better. Sugar certainly doesn't do a body too much good, does it?

Yeah .. i ll tell you why... for me I carry 4 genes for gluten problems that predispose me for CELIAC
as well I have 2 genes for type 2 diabetes gene testing in the HLA DQ area
I dont have both diseases... you have to biopsy out for celiac.. or biopsy out for crohns --you are only fully diseased if this happens.. if you dont you have antibodies or intolerance say gluten
These 3 diseases run heavy in my family tree my moms side... I started to get crohns disease and antibodies. I then also became gluten intolerant... I point to these studies as the worst offender in the family is type 2 I think all 3 are some what of a spin of each other due to yeast/fungus and the lining.
I feel all 3 are very similar the mouse studies point to Genus Akkermansia bacteria and the lining ..for me Ive been doing alot of advanced testing... to day I am crohns free..and all docs are lost?????
I also now can tolerate gluten again and have lost all doctors. What I did notice is that I have a high amount of Genus Akkermansia bacteria now 13 percent. the avg person is 3 to 5 and when this dips low mice get type 2 so me carrying many genes for gluten doesnt mean i will ever get celiac -- may play a roll. But gluten kills this type of bacteria ---which is highly linked to type 2 and immune diseases when its low. at the same time I noticed I had HIGH candida yeast.. in advanced studies. the two together are bad- why because the yeast eat sugars.. and feed on them robbing them from your blood. if yeast is high you cant produce good bacteria in the gut to protect you.
Now much advanced research ive seen shows the loss of barrier and also people pointing to high yeast/fungus as issues related to diabetes.
for me I killed and lowered my candida yeast which i can prove in advanced tesst... as well raised my Genus Akkermansia bacteria and now my problem is solve. No crohns--- like I said everyone in my family had crohns or type 2.
A good study is the http://www.americangut.org/ they are doing testing of the RNA16 of bacteria in your gut...this would cost thousands of dollars if you did it on your own.. They are doing it part of a research project for 99.00 testing guts of the world to compare disease diets etc.. today im great -- insulin resistance is super low... as my Akkermansia raised this went down.... as well my yeast lowering / me killing it. i feel is the factor.. I also factor my low carb / paleo diet as the FUNGUS/ yeast had nothing to eat. allowing them to drop off and my bacteria (good to grow) at the same time I eat tons of garlic , onions leeks and asparagus. Which feed this Akkermansia bacteria ( barrier bacteria)
you should learn what is in your gut ..... it will be interesting for you ..

LanieG
Ive done alot of advanced testing to seek out answers... to me a test rarely used called the IBD EXPANDED PANEL from labcorp is a good test... I d love to see you do this test (covered by insurance) you eat low carb but have diabetes.???? correct
this test tests 5 antibodies
AMCA
ALCA
ASCA
ACCA
PANCA
all mean something in antibodies... would guess your results would be HIGH( AMCA) or (ASCA)
with ALCA a little high
if you eat low carb almost no sugar --then this i bet will be normal in range possible (ALCA). this would be awesome if you did this.. AMCA= canida yeast and ASCA = bakers brewers yeast if your high in one of these I bet you could tie your diabetes to this... and if you took things drugs or natural supplements that lower yeast
I bet your insulin resistance would get better as you antibodies come down to the one of these two.
would you do it.. nothing to loose ??? LABCORP TEST --- Test Number: 162045
im sure you seen studies about
fungus /yeast and diabetes ????
the following are antibodies tested
Antichitobioside carbohydrate antibodies (ACCA);
antilaminaribioside carbohydrate antibodies (ALCA); all sugars -- sugar, mushroom sugar, milk, grains, malt and starches corn potatoes rice
antimannobioside carbohydrate antibodies (AMCA); mannon and candida
anti-Saccharomyces cerevisiae antibodies (gASCA); bakers/ brewers yeast
atypical perinuclear antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (pANCA)
