When a doctor tells you that you have an incurable disease, shock is your first reaction, and you may not hear a word he says after that, let alone remember anything other than you have a very serious disease. You may not hear his words it is treatable so you don't end up with heart disease or have organs replaced, or go into hypoglycemic shock or coma if taking insulin or hyperglycemia coma from not getting enough insulin.
Everyone should have a physical once a year which includes full blood work up, tour doctor gets the big bucks because he is the expert you should listen to and not people like me to make a diagnosis
