This is what the Mayo Clinic site says about
testing for diabetic neuropathy:
www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/diabetic-neuropathy/basics/tests-diagnosis/con-20033336I don't know if I read it there or another site but somewhere it said if it's diabetes related, it usually starts in both feet, not one. Anyway, this link talks about
tests.
I know it could be as simple as pins and needles from sitting wrong or nerve damage from some an injury. I had one of those Tempur-pedic pillows but I gave up sleeping with it because it caused one of my shoulders and arm to tingle and feel numb. I figured that a nerve in my neck area that was on the pillow was involved like getting pins and needles as when you sit on your leg folded under you for awhile.
I do know that neuropathy from diabetes may occur after years of uncontrolled blood sugar; it doesn't happen suddenly. If you've had regular physical exams over the years, you would have been told that your blood sugar was too high or that you had diabetes before now.
So, basically - I don't know! I'm only guessing. You'd have to see a doctor who would conduct these tests. I wish I had a better answer.
