Update - Son with type 1 doing great!

Hi everyone, I just wanted to check in and say how well my son (16 yrs) is doing and say thank you again for all the support when he was initially diagnosed with type 1 in January!

His numbers have been in target and steady for the last month and I'm so proud of him! He is now calculating his own insulin for each meal and doing so well!

It's become our new "normal" and I'm so relieved now with the confidence that we have got this under control, that he is going to be ok. Such a far cry from where we were when he was first diagnosed a couple of months ago.

My hope is that others with newly diagnosed children or teens with type 1 may read this and be encouraged that although the initial shock and adjustment is huge, things do even out and it does become easier!

I'll continue to check in and make good use of the resources here from you awesome people and perhaps even offer some support myself to anyone if the need arises.

Thanks Lanie! Sorry for the late reply i had an accident and had to have surgery to reattach the tendon in my right pinkie so i'm left handed one finger typing lol.

He had a burn out phase and wasn't testing his sugar or taking his lantus but luckily we caught it quickly. It's so hard for kids to have to do all this. I have to keep eagle eyes on him and apparently it's common.
