I have been reading about
a new treatment for diabetic Neuropathy (particularly foot related) using Anodyne therapy. What is Anodyne therapy? Well they have a website and you can read all about
it but the executive summary is that it is infrared light treament applied directly to the feet.
The FDA has approved this treatment and there seems to be a wealth of clinical trial info - and it seems to have some pretty dramatic results!...
The gold standard of clinical studies is a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study in a peer-reviewed journal. That's what "Restoration of Sensation, Reduced Pain, and Improved Balance in Subjects With Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy" in the Janurary 2004 issue of Diabetes Care, an official organ of the American Diabetes Association, showed. The study concluded that Anodyne Therapy "treatments improve sensation in the feet of subjects with DPN [diabetic peripheral neuropathy], improve balance, and reduce pain." Has anyone tried this? Comments??
