I'd like to share with you my visit to my doctor today. I was anticipating being asked to do another battery of tests, which I was mentally set up for. Instead, my doc looked at my blood sugar log, weighed me and essentially said 'see you in January'. Amazing! He said that my readings were indistinguishable from those of a non-diabetic and actually told me stop being so zealous.
Now, not for one moment will I let my guard down. I have a long, long way to go before I get to my target weight and really need to keep (and improve) my diet. My goal is still to stave off having to take drugs for as long as I can. I still have to see an opthamologist and dread any negative report from him.
It is rare to have any sort of a positive outcome from a visit to the doctor these days. There is nothing positive to come out of this disease (except the chance to meet such nice people from around the world on boards). But, just for today, I've had a little ray of sunshine.
