prednisone messing with blood sugar

Welcome to HealingWell, lindylee. Sorry about the prednisone raising your blood sugar. This is totally expected. When I had to be on that or had a steroid shot, my doctor warned me that my blood sugar would be higher than usual. This should be a temporary rise and when you're off the prednisone, your blood sugar should go back to what it usually was before. If I were you, I would not stop the prednisone without talking to your doctor.

When patients are on steroids for long term, sometimes their doctors raise the dosage of their diabetes medication. You might ask your doctor about this. You could also cut out whatever carbs you're eating as they also will raise your blood sugar in spite of the metformin.

The bottom line is call you doctor before changing or stopping any of your medication. I hope the rash is improving!
