That's
not particularly bad news if the doctor says it's "onset". As far as I know, diabetic neuropathy can be contained by keeping blood sugar normal, so do what you can to keep the readings down to normal as much as you can! In other cases of neuropathy, I've read that activities like walking can regenerate nerve endings but I don't know if it works with diabetics. I do know that walking helps increase blood flow and they keeps the legs and feet healthy. When neuropathy is really advanced walking can be painful so your goal should be not to get to that point.
