Hi! I normally post in the Lyme forum here.
I've been mostly avoiding sugar for a year to fight Lyme. Yesterday afternoon I ate a teaspoonful of something sweet and immediately felt my heart rate increase and then within a few minutes got extremely /strangely sleepy while my heart rate remained high. Like I kept falling asleep sitting up in a chair.
I had GD while pregnant and later was told I was prediabetic but I've been better on this diet. But I've had sugar occasionally with no problems.
I also have allergies and have begun having anaphylactic reactions, and this thing has nuts in it. (I've started having questionable issues with another nut.) Some reactions seem to start with this fast increase in heart rate. But I'm thinking this one might have been a blood sugar issue. Any thoughts?
(Not looking for diagnosis of course. Just for other people's experiences.)
