Diabetes & leukemia

My boyfriend has diabetes. He has been tired and doing a lot of sleeping. I took him to the hospital where they treated his diabetes, they said he had cirrosis of the liver, and to top it off they did a bone marrow biopsy and said he has leukemia. Hes 55 years old. He is in the hospital now and they are giving him blood daily and in the morning his
blood is low and so they need to give him blood again. He is being transferred to a hospital 5 hours away for treatment as the hospital he originally went to does not want him back as he has no insurance. He has nobody else that can help him. What should I expect?

Welcome to HealingWell, Respectful. I'm thinking the leukemia is the more serious and immediate need right now since diabetes can be managed more easily. As far as what to do at this point, you or your friend should talk to the hospital social worker or finance department. They should have options for your friend. Also, he can contact the Department of Health and Human Services or a local non-profit cancer organization for more information, too. The point is that the hospitals themselves do have departments that can give you references to organizations that can help him.

Keep strong....seek support....usually the social welfare dept of hospitals is a good place for you and ya mate. They got contacts and resources that are unseen nut used in special circumstances. HT
