ST LOUIS MO Cardio-Vascular surgeon for Type 1 Patient

I'm posting on the diabetes forum because my wife is a Type 1 diabetic for over 50 years. She has had 3 heart attacks, so far all resolved with angioplasty and stents, however her cardiologist says she will require bypass surgery sooner or later (and it appears to be sooner). He was frank enough to say NOT HIM and NOT THIS HOSPITAL (outlying St Louis area) because of the special problems with the veins of someone with years of diabetes..

Hoping someone here with similar past diabetic issues that has required bypass surgery can recommend a cardiovascular surgeon at one of the major St Louis (MO) hospitals. For example Barnes (BJC). Missouri Baptist, St Lukes etc.

Thanks to anyone who loves their doc and can recommend him/her.

I hope someone can help you with recommendations. In the meantime, are there any university teaching hospitals in the St. Louis area? Check those out. And can your wife's cardiologist himself recommend a surgeon? After all he should be aware of the local surgeons and their specialties.

You are correct that finding one now is important and I think she should start seeing a new one now if he/she would be doing your wife's surgery.
