After my readings did not come down when I tried to control my blood sugar with diet, my general practitioner started giving me pills to do that.
The first three pills had side effects to the point where I couldn't keep taking any of the three.
Went to my eye doctor today and she said, your eyes are OK now, as far as conditions are concerned, but she indicated that doesn't mean that can't change, which I took to mean my diabetes numbers are too high which can lead to eye trouble I've read.
Went home for lunch, then decided to go straight to my walk-in clinic and try a 4th blood sugar medicine. The doctor I got this time had some age and experience, which I was glad to see and gave me a medicine that was not in the category as the first three. Hallauyeh.
I start with this 4th blood sugar medicine tomorrow. I got the doctor's name so I can get him the next time. He said give it a month. Or, I guess, any side effects which are too much for me.
He said the idea was to get the numbers down into a reasonable level, meaning we're not going for world records here. He indicated 130 was a reasonable goal, better than my 170s now.
I was about to lose all hope. I would suggest others pay a visit to their doctor if they think their numbers are too high. They do have a variety of medicines they can try.
I would also suggest keeping a record of which medicines you've tried and your blood sugar numbers. Of course, they took my blood sugar reading at the clinic so that tells them a lot.
