Went to my general practitioner about my blood sugar and he gave me a test which showed my AIC had dropped from 6.9 to 6.1 in the last few months.
I’m thinking, wonder what caused that improvement? I don’t usually get better in that area.
Then it dawned on me, it’s the blood sugar medicine I’ve been taking for several months: Pioglitazone 35 mg tablets. Expect a miracle.
I have type 2 diabetes, as do 90-95% of diabetics.
The net says, “An A1C under 5.7 percent is normal, according to Healthline. A1C levels from 5.7 to 6.4 percent indicate prediabetes, and A1C levels at 6.5 percent or higher indicate diabetes.”
So now I’ve moved from diabetic to prediabetic. Hallelujah.
Tell me I don’t take control of my health. As in, the doctor sent me a letter some time ago which said, “You need to be on blood sugar medicine.” And some time before that, “You need to be on cholesterol medicine.”
I think they take an AIC test every three months to get an average of all those daily monitors with test strips.
Also, Everydayhealth.com says about oatmeal for breakfast: “Steel-cut oats are best for type 2 diabetes because they are the least-processed version of oat groats. Rolled oats have a higher GI than steel-cut oats as they actually have been partially cooked, making them increase your blood sugar faster.”
I've seen Steel-cut oat meal at the supermarket and I didn’t know what the significance of that was.
Also, daily exercise and socialization helps with blood sugar, sleep at night and general mental and physical health.
