Hello-
I am 25, I have had Type 1 since I was 21.
I have been fortunate, and I have been able to control my levels well. My last A1C was somewhere in the mid-6's. I am on an Animas Pump, which has helped tremendously.. even though I still can not get used to the thought of having something coming out of me for the rest of my life!
That being said, the worst thing that has came up since I was diagnosed has been an incredibly dry mouth, lips, and a bad case of halitosis. I have been to a few types of doctors to see if they could figure out why this is happening, but I have had no luck. I got my deviated septum repaired, i had my stomach checked out, my sinuses, my teeth, my gums... none of them see any reason for it. My doctor thinks Diabetes has nothing to do with it, but it has only been present since I was diagnosed. I permanenly have to chew gum now, and the halitosis has really hurt my confidence and my ability to interact socially.
Has anyone else experienced this? I have tried everything... i have literally spent nearly 600 dollars in the last 3 years on "Cures for bad breath and dry mouth".. nothing has worked.
Its an embarrassing problem, that is really hard to deal with.
Thanks!
